What are the requirements for NEMSA registration in Nigeria?

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) is a multi-disciplinary, technical and professional agency of the government of Nigeria.

The federal government created the organization to uphold technical standards and laws in the Nigerian electricity supply sector.

The role and duty of NEMSA in enforcing standards is to guarantee workplace safety in the electricity sector. NEMSA is a professional organization with several members that have received certifications.

Do you wish to learn the requirements for certification by this power service provider? In the article that follows, the prerequisites for NEMSA registration will be emphasized.

Requirements for NEMSA Registration

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency necessitates electricians to get a license before undertaking electrical work. The path to obtaining an electrician license is based on education, work experience, and passing exams.

Candidates should submit a licensing application to the state board of electrical examiners after completing the educational requirements and gaining the necessary work experience for a NEMSA license.

The following are typical requirements for NEMSA Registration in Nigeria, although they differ depending on the state and type of license:

  • A current passport photo (35 mm x 45 mm), without a cap, hat, or spectacles
  • Certificates of education or professional qualification.
  • Evidence of previous electrical installation projects or works that you have completed, such as safety inspection certifications.
  • Evidence of corporate incorporation or registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
  • Proof of payment

Applicants must adhere to the board’s directions on how to arrange the examination after the board has approved their license application. Candidates who pass the test will get their licenses in the mail.

How To Register or Renew NEMSA Certificate

Renew NEMSA Certificate

You should submit your online application to the Nigeria Electricity Management Agency (NEMSA) through their official website if you want to apply for the electrical installation contractor certificate of corporations.

However, the corporation must first select a contractor to finish the application.

Licenses for electricians normally expire every year or every two years. The same candidate may apply for renewal two (2) years after the NEMSA certificate has been issued.

You’ll need to complete an application for renewal. You will also need to prove that you are continuing your professional development.

Failure to renew a license may result in sanctions such as license suspension or revocation for both individuals and businesses.

The procedures listed below must be followed by a candidate in order to successfully receive or renew the NEMSA certificate.

  1. The first step is to log in to nemsa.gov.ng.
  2. Fill out “Form C” for Corporate Organization by selecting the Electrical Installation Contractors Certification Portal link.
  3. You can now select the company’s location and submit it online.
  4. Pay the processing fee of 2,000.00 (Two Thousand Naira) using Remitta.
  5. The candidate is encouraged to print the online application form and the materials indicated below together.

Documents To Submit For Registration

This documentation must be manually submitted in the State where the company is located at the NEMSA Area Office:

  • A photocopy of the candidate’s credentials and the company profile
  • Candidate’s Passport Photograph (4 Copies, white background).

Your application number and confirmation of its successful submission will be included in the notification you get as the candidate. Moreover, your email address will be used to notify you.

The date of the exam or interview will be communicated to the candidate. He or she is required to show up for the interview with their original credentials, the company’s profile, and documentation of their time spent working for them, such as an employment letter or an identification card.

You will take a written competency test and an oral interview with the certification panel on the examination date.

After the exams and oral interview, you will then be informed of the exam results.

If you pass the exams, you must pay the competency certificate fee through the TSA no later than one week after being notified.

The amount of ₦50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Naira) is due from the successful candidate as certification fees.

The competency certificate will be processed and sent to you after NEMSA receives your payment, which will take around a month.

You will now be able to get your NEMSA certificate. The issued certificate can be renewed by the same Candidate by submitting an application for renewal after two (2) years.

The certificate cannot be transferred and expires the moment the candidate quits or leaves the Organization.
