The School of Health Tech, Akure was established in 1920 by Dr. I. Oladipo Oluwole, the first Nigerian Medical Officer of Health.
Tracing back to the first time the school was established, It was initially called the School of Hygiene. The main objective of the school was to give basic medical and health care education to students.
The school also aimed and responding positively to prevailing health conditions in the community. In that regard, the school offered courses under the following categories;
